About
My journey
My journey started in Germany. I studied law and worked as In-house counsel for a bank. After migrating to Australia, I qualified as a Barrister.
In 2002, I completed my post-graduate studies in international commercial and sports arbitration and developed an interest in digital dispute resolution. In the same year, I also became a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).
Soon after, I debuted as a mediation co-counsel for the State of Queensland and began advising parties, counsels and State and Federal governments in national, regional and international mediation, arbitration, and litigation matters.
In 2014, I took the position as Principal Lawyer and Attaché to the Secretary General of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH). I worked on the HCCH’s international commercial and financial law and civil procedure instruments. I also advised the Secretary General on the laws of international organisations.
Since 2020, I work as an independent and accredited mediator and arbitrator. My practice is as diverse and international as is my expertise.
Being a national of Australia and Germany, I am fully proficient in English and German and practice in both languages.
I undertook extensive online dispute resolution (ODR) training and am very skilled in conducting mediations and arbitrations online. I use a dedicated, secure and easy to use ODR platform (Modron Spaces) which I offer as a service to parties at no extra cost.
My expertise is well recognised. I am a member of several leading international mediation and arbitration panels.
Moreover, I lecture at graduate and master’s level, including courses in mediation, at the Sigmund Freud University in Vienna and I take pride in coaching mediation and arbitration teams at moot competitions.
I am a much-published author and regular speaker at webinars, seminars and conferences, always happy to share my experience and insights.
